Aswathy's Kitchen

Experiments with Food

Welcome!

Hello everyone, my name is Aswathy. I was born and brought up in Kottayam, Kerala, India, and now I call North Carolina my home. It is so hard to believe that it has been nineteen years since we moved to the Carolinas. Starting a blog, mainly about cooking, had been on my mind for so long and it finally happened because of my son’s, spur of the moment action. He came home one weekend and realized that I was still at the brainstorming stage and right then and there he set everything up for me to start my blog. Here I am, so please bear with me as I begin my journey. My blog posts will be mostly about cooking which I enjoy so much but loathe having to wash all the soiled pots and pans that have been piling up in the sink. I always wonder how I end up using so many pots to make even a simple dish.

At home, I try to make something different for dinner since that’s the one meal that all of us would be able to sit down and enjoy. I’m not someone who plans the meals way in advance and so most days I will start thinking about dinner right after my morning coffee. Usually, I pick out a recipe from the small collection of cookbooks I own and try it out. Experimenting with recipes is something I do a lot and that means adding an extra ingredient or two when the recipe is tried out next time around. My way of knowing whether to keep the recipe is primarily based on my family’s reaction.

You can expect to see at least one post from me each month, mainly recipes and some cooking techniques, suggestions, and tips I picked up along the way. Your questions and comments are always welcome, and I will try my best to answer each and every one of them.
